Post-Dramatic Deconstruction of Sexual Trauma
At 15, I was raped in my sleep at a high school party. Five years later, as flashbacks began to take over, I finally realized what had happened. Today, I am diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder. I have never confronted my rapist. Until tonight. With you.
Tonight, you will meet three actresses in a large, empty shower, a space where trauma can either rise and drown, or be cleansed and purified. This is a fragmented and disjointed evening, just like trauma itself, moving between the desire to shake off being a victim and the wish to reclaim control over one’s life, and the urge to harm another person.
The performance won “Best Production” at the 2023 Acre Festival
